Bablix — Privacy Policy

Bablix is a real-time speech translation app for iOS. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what is shared with third parties.

Data That Stays on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server:

• Session transcripts — All conversation transcripts are saved as files in the app's private storage on your device.
• App settings — Language preferences, color choices, speech settings, and other configuration are stored in local app storage.
• Claude API key — If you provide an API key, it is stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure on-device credential storage. It is never logged, displayed in plain text after entry, or transmitted anywhere except to Anthropic's API to authenticate your requests.
• Speech model — The WhisperKit speech recognition model is downloaded once and stored on your device. All speech recognition runs locally on your device.

Microphone and Speech Recognition

Bablix requests access to your device's microphone and speech recognition capabilities. Audio from the microphone is processed on your device by the WhisperKit speech model to convert speech to text. Audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted. Only the resulting text is used for translation.

When background recording is enabled, Apple's on-device speech recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer) may also be used to capture ambient conversation context. This processing also occurs entirely on your device.

Data Sent to Third Parties

Anthropic (Claude API)

When you use any of the following features, the recognized text is sent to Anthropic's API for processing:

• Claude translation engine — If you select Claude as your translation engine, recognized speech text is sent for translation.
• Refine — When you refine a transcript entry, the text is sent for grammar and accuracy correction.
• "Hey Claude" AI assistant — When you use the wake phrase, your question is sent to Claude for a response.

Only the text of your speech is transmitted — never raw audio. Your API key authenticates these requests. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Under Anthropic's API terms, data sent via the API is not used to train their models.

Apple Translation

When you use Apple Translation as your engine, translation is handled by Apple's on-device and server-side translation framework. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Hugging Face

On first launch, the WhisperKit speech recognition model is downloaded from Hugging Face's servers. This is a one-time download. No personal data is sent in this request.

No Analytics or Tracking

Bablix does not include any analytics frameworks, crash reporting services, advertising SDKs, or tracking of any kind. We do not collect usage data, device identifiers, or behavioral information.

No Account Required

Bablix does not require you to create an account. The optional Claude API key is your own Anthropic account credential, managed entirely by you.

Children's Privacy

Bablix is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
